Baylor News Digest Improves Communication

January 12, 2021

For the past several months, all faculty, staff and students have received Baylor News Digest each Wednesday. The Digest consolidates content from a variety of sources into a single, concise email, reducing the volume of emails and event invites you receive in your inbox.

Additionally, the Digest replaced the quarterly print version of Baylor News. We recognized that news is consumed differently in a highly digital world, and we understood the responsibility to utilize budget funds responsibly and share information in a more timely manner.

Each week, the Digest includes:
• A Feature Item or Story
• Conferences & Lectures
• Arts & Exhibits
• Other Events
• Announcements

Baylor News Digest may be used by all campus departments. It is widely distributed and widely read. Faculty and staff may submit an item for inclusion in the Digest via an online request form. Requests must include:
• a succinct description of the news item or event
• link for more information
• section selection
• requested send date
• last possible send date
• contact information for the submitter

The Digest is part of a larger effort to reduce email fatigue by reducing the number of campus-wide emails. Rather than campus-wide mass email from numerous departments and offices, the Digest provides a single consistent and easily scanned communication. A campus-wide mass email schedule has been established to accommodate other regular campus emails each week.

Guidelines for mass email communications can be found on the Baylor News Digest website along with FAQs for the Digest.
