Keeping Baylor students at the forefront of operations, the University is making the necessary arrangements to ensure current and future student success. For prospective students, Baylor has extended the deposit and housing application deadlines to June 1 as well as extended the transfer application deadline to July 1. Baylor also developed interactive and unique ways to move campus tours, Orientation and other spring and summer events online.

Díadeloso

One of Baylor’s most popular traditions, Díadeloso was moved online as Díadeloso Social Distancing Edition via social media on April 21. The virtual event encouraged students and families to join in on the fun by starting with a fun run, tuning in to Lady and Joy’s noon meal, participating in a virtual Dr Pepper Hour and listening to an online concert. The Día committee also kept the tradition alive with typical Día 2020 apparel, decals and more.

Orientation

Incoming students will experience Orientation through an online orientation platform called Foundations, expected to launch June 1. First-year students will have online advising appointments to plan out their schedules and register for courses. Plans are still being developed for Baylor Line Camp.

Campus tours

For prospective students who wish to tour Baylor, a new visit event website was developed to immerse them in the Baylor experience virtually. The site not only includes a look at academic engagement of students, but also features faith and service, living communities, and the excitement of student involvement on campus. Although the campus visits office will remain closed until city and state officials lift COVID-19 restrictions, virtual visits will bring Baylor to future bears all across the world.

How does this work?
• Students can visit the virtual site, baylor.edu/whybaylor, at any time and view numerous videos that showcase campus and academic life.
• Students can schedule a virtual visit with an admissions counselor or financial aid advisor.
• Prospective students have the opportunity to chat with a current student.
• Prospective students also may join the mailing list and receive information and a free gift from Baylor admissions.

Additional virtual experiences for future students are in development. Creating a sense of community, even though we are physically apart, is a priority of Baylor University.
