Baylor University’s policy process, once decentralized, is now coordinated through University Compliance and Risk Services, providing a central point for the development, review and approval for University policies. The policy process is governed by the Policy on Policies, which lays out the steps in the process from initiation to adoption.

In an effort to create an easily navigable system, a policy website has been launched and provides a comprehensive and centralized repository for University policies. The new site contains information that covers how to create policies, a new policy template for University policies, the Policy on Policies and the Policy Impact Statement.

Policies in the Policy Library are categorized by subject area, such as academics, personnel, and technology, which provide an easily accessible view of all policies associated with that category. Additionally, the library has a list of all policies and is enabled with a quick search function. Updates to existing policies or the implementation of new policies are included as news stories.

Recent notable policy updates include:
• President’s Council finalized the Policy on Policies
• Leave time policies were updated and went into effect January 1
• Department of Public Safety updated existing policies and implemented several new policies including the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (Drone) Policy; the Traffic, Transportation, and Parking Policy; the Campus Weapon Regulations Policy; and the Public Demonstration Policy

Baylor University Compliance and Risk Services Department includes Clery Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management, Environmental Health and Safety, Insurance, Policy Development, Trade Compliance and Youth Protection programs.
