The Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE) in the Harvard Graduate School of Education is a research-practice partnership and network of peer institutions focused on improving outcomes in faculty recruitment, development and retention. More than 300 colleges, universities and state systems have enhanced their ability to pinpoint factors of faculty success and implement informed changes.

Baylor Provost Nancy Brickhouse convened a task force on faculty job satisfaction in the fall of 2019 and charged the group with determining the relative job satisfaction of Baylor faculty. Full-time Baylor faculty have the opportunity to complete the COACHE Faculty Job Satisfaction Survey which will be used to obtain actionable data about the conditions, environment, policies and practices that support the best faculty work. The survey results will empower Provost Brickhouse to better understand faculty experiences and guide the Institution in the fulfillment of Illuminate, the University’s strategic plan.

Who?

All full-time faculty are invited to participate — tenured, tenure-track, and non-tenure-track.

What?

The nationally recognized Harvard COACHE Faculty Job Satisfaction Survey asks faculty members to assess their experiences regarding promotion and tenure, the nature of their work, policies and practices, and the general climate, culture, and level of collegiality on campus.

When?

The survey period opens on February 10 and closes March 22, 2020.

Where?

The anonymous, confidential survey of faculty will take about 25 minutes to complete electronically.

You will receive an individualized link from Harvard (coachefaculty@opinioncast.com) who will manage the survey, detach responses from individual names, analyze the data, and provide aggregate reports that ensure the anonymity of individual responses.

Why?

Baylor desires to gain a clear picture of areas of success and areas of concern to faculty. Broad participation will provide actionable data for improvements in policies, practices, and environment that help faculty flourish at Baylor.
