Baylor Celebrates 11th Baylor Bound Partnership with Amarillo College

July 18, 2017

On May 16, Baylor University and Amarillo College announced a formal Baylor Bound transfer agreement that creates a path for highly motivated Amarillo College students to transfer to Baylor to complete their baccalaureate degrees. Qualifying students choose a Baylor degree plan from 66 majors, each of which is articulated through a specific MAP — or Major Academic Planner — that facilitates timely degree completion.

Baylor University Interim President David E. Garland, PhD, and Amarillo College President Russell Lowery-Hart, PhD, signed the partnership agreement during a ceremony at Amarillo College. Baylor and Amarillo officials, along with alumni, friends and special guests from across the region, gathered at a reception following the signing to celebrate the historic partnership between the two institutions.

“This alliance is significant because its goal is to ensure a seamless transfer between two institutions with a shared commitment to student success,” Lowery-Hart said. “We could not be more pleased by this opportunity to reinforce our commitment to helping all students transfer to a university and particularly to cement our relationship and streamline our processes with Baylor.”

The agreement marks the 11th Baylor Bound partnership. In alignment with one of its goals under Pro Futuris, Baylor exceeded the goal of 10 Baylor Bound partnerships in five years. Partner schools are McLennan Community College, Tyler Junior College, Blinn College, Collin College, Temple College, Alamo College, Midland College, San Jacinto College, Tarrant County College and South Texas College.

“It is through these strong Baylor Bound collaborations that we are able to expand educational opportunities for students in Texas,” Garland said. “We look forward to welcoming Amarillo College students into the Baylor Family.”
