Thomas W. Huber, Ph.D.
Dr. Thomas Huber is a clinical microbiologist at the Olin E. Teague Veterans Center in Temple, Texas. He received his Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Texas at Austin in 1968 and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta, Ga., which led to his certification as diplomat, medical and public health microbiology, by the American Board of Microbiology. In 1970 he joined the faculty of the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in pathology and microbiology, and in 1974 he became chief of the bureau of laboratories at the Houston health department. While in Houston he was a visiting associate professor at the University of Texas School of Public Health and held adjunct appointments at the University of Texas Medical School and Baylor College of Medicine. Since assuming his current position, Dr. Huber has become an associate professor in medical microbiology and immunology and pathology and laboratory medicine at Texas A&M Health Sciences Center in Temple. He has published book chapters and articles in peer-reviewed journals concerning clinical microbiology, has been a Burroughs Welcome Visiting Professor and has taught graduate school courses and advised numerous graduate students. His research interests include inducible betalactamase and cell wall-deficient gram negative bacteria.
