Jim H. Patton, Ph.D.
Dr. Jim Patton is professor of psychology and neuroscience at Baylor University. He received his Ph.D. in experimental psychology with an emphasis in biopsychology from Baylor in 1978. He was an NIH postdoctoral fellow in the departments of psychiatry and behavioral sciences and biochemistry at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston before joining the Baylor faculty in 1980. Since that time, Dr. Patton has returned to UTMB Galveston on two occasions as visiting assistant professor and visiting professor of psychiatry. His research interests involve the developmental psychopharmacology and biological bases of impulsive behavior. He has published more than 20 refereed papers and abstracts and coauthored one book chapter and a clinically useful psychological instrument to assess impulsive tendencies.
