Joseph Newman, Ph.D.

Dr. Joseph Newman is director of virology and associate director of immunology at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. He received his Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1973 and was a postdoctoral fellow there in microbiology. He served as assistant professor at the School of Allied Health for the University of Texas Health Science Center in Dallas from 1978 to 1982 and has served as adjunct professor in the department of microbiology at Baylor College of Dentistry since 1977. Dr. Newman has authored more than 30 published articles and abstracts. His research interests include clinical immunology and virology, lymphocyte phenotyping of leukemias, photoin-activation of viruses, immune response in transplant patients and immunologic aspects of periodontal disease.
