I truly enjoy teaching at the college level. Because I teach introductory biology courses, I strive to set a good foundation for students in order to prepare them for upper level courses. It is such a pleasure forming relationships with my students and guiding them in their undergraduate career, as well as their future goals.
My background is in molecular genetics. My most recent research involved the recombinant expression of pollen allergens in plant and yeast systems. Finding better ways to produce and extract recombinant allergens allows one to evalute their potential use as candidates for specific immunotherapy or as diagnostic reagents, potentially reducing production costs and the unwanted side effects of current immunotherapy.
In my spare time I enjoy a variety of hobbies. I love music (singing, guitar, piano), reading, hunting and fishing.
