Robert Baird received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from Baylor University and his Ph.D. from Emory University. He was chair of the task force that designed the BIC program and has been a member of the faculty of World Cultures III from its beginning. His interests in philosophy include ethical theory, applied ethics, and political thought. His publications include several journal articles and many encyclopedia entries. He has edited eighteen books, most of them in the area of applied ethics and in collaboration with his colleague in philosophy, Stuart Rosenbaum. He has also edited several books with his daughter, Katherine Baird Darmer, a professor of law.
