Annual Disclosure of Crime Statistics Policy

The Baylor University Police Department (BUPD), as a matter of procedure and public information, collects and reports crime statistics monthly and yearly. Crime statistics are collected by the BUPD daily and a daily log is maintained. These statistics are compiled monthly and annually for reporting. The BUPD prepares this report to comply with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Crime Statistics Act, as well as state and federal (UCR; Uniform Crime Reports) laws. The full text of this report can be located on our web site.

The BUPD makes reasonable efforts to obtain crime statistics from "campus security authorities" which include any official of the University who has significant responsibilities for student and campus activities. Every member of the Baylor Community should feel free to report criminal offenses described in the law. These offenses can be reported for the purpose of making timely warning reports and the annual statistical disclosure to the following campus offices: Student Life, the Vice Presidents' offices, the Universities President's office, Judicial Affairs, and the Baylor University Police Department.

Voluntary Crime Reporting

Baylor University encourages victims or witnesses to report all crimes. Such reports may be made confidentially by calling BUPD or by reporting the crime through Baylor University’s confidential reporting system.

Campus pastoral counselors and mental health professionals, when acting as such, are not considered to be campus security authorities and are not required to report crimes for inclusion into the annual disclosure of crime statistics. As a matter of policy, they are encouraged, if and when they deem appropriate, to inform persons being counseled of the procedures to report crimes on a voluntary basis for inclusion into the annual crime statistics.

 Off-Campus Organizations

Baylor University does not have any off-campus student organizations officially recognized by the institution that are monitored and recorded in the annual report.
