Steven Gebert

Steven Gebert, a junior in the Aviation Science Professional Pilot program from Alvin, Texas, became interested in flying after his fourteenth birthday. "My grandparents gave me a discovery flight as a present and that experience, coupled with numerous stories I heard about flying from family and friends, led me to consider aviation as a career choice." Steven had always enjoyed flying and the feeling you get while being in an airplane. This would lead to the thought "Maybe I should do it for a living."

Steven heard of Baylor University's aviation program at an airshow in Houston, TX. "I liked the idea of being able to do something I enjoy while still being relatively close to home." The Christian enviroment of Baylor and the numerous aviation opportunities offered in Waco drew Steven towards becoming a Baylor Bear. "My cousins also came to Baylor and told me about how great the University itself is, so I knew Baylor should be my home."

Aside from flying, Steven's favorite thing about Baylor Aviation has been the wide variety of subjects including aviation management, airport operations, and accident investigation and prevention. "The program has allowed me to realize all the potential opportunities in aviation outside of being an airline pilot." Baylor helped this realization by introducing professionals from many aviation fields to better understand which field best suits an individual's needs.

"Eventually I want to become a corporate pilot after flight instructing for a while." Steven Gebert is currently a Private Pilot with an Instrument Rating, and is pursuing his Commercial Certification.
