What To Do

Advising Hold

You are trying to register for courses and it will not let you. It is giving you the message that you have an advising hold.

Your specific advising areas are listed for you on your BearWeb account. To view your advising requirements go to - BearWeb... Registration...Term...Advisement & Contact Information.

Verify that your major is listed correctly and determine if advising is required or recommended. If requesting an advising appointment, contact the department listed here or if there is a link (Email/URL), click on that link and it will take you to that departments scheduling tool.

Class         Closed Not able to register for a course due to the class being closed.   Closed class overrides are issued by the individual departments. Contact the department of the course you are trying to register for to see if they will issue an override for that class.

Class Restriction Will not let you register for a certain course, i.e. 3000 or 4000 level.   Most likely, if you are a lower classman trying to register for a 3000 or 4000 level course, the system will not allow you to because those courses are reserved for Juniors and Seniors.

Students who will have 60+ hours (earned hours) at the end of the term are not allowed to register for ENG 1304, generally. ENG 1304 is a freshman level class and should be taken care of during your freshman year.   Try registering for a section in ENG 3300. If this still does not work, call that department to see if they will be able to issue an override into another section.

Major Restriction You are trying to register for a class that is dedicated to students in that major.   Try registering for another section.

You are not registering for the lecture and lab at the same time.   When you have a class that requires a lab, you must register for the lecture and lab both at the same time.

Registration Hold You are trying to register for courses and it will not let you. It is giving you the message that you have a registration hold.   To view your registration holds, log onto your BearWeb account and look under the "Student Services & Financial Aid" tab to see the holds you have that are preventing you from registering.
