IN 1899, A RIVALRY WAS BORN...
In 1895, both Baylor and TCU called Waco home. So, it is no surprise that their first football face-off in 1899 sparked the beginning of one of the longest-standing rivalries in all of college football history. (Even the nation's first recorded Homecoming football game in 1909 featured Baylor and TCU.)
Though a massive fire in the heart of TCU's campus led the university to relocate to Fort Worth in 1910, the competition never faded. Now both in the Big 12, the rivalry continues, but the gridiron is no longer the only battlefield.
Last year, TCU challenged young alumni in Baylor Nation to take the rivalry a step further in a test of loyalty and action. After a head-to-head competition, Baylor was victorious. This fall, the Baylor vs. TCU Young Alumni Challenge is back.
Between Sept. 23 and Oct. 8, the first university to have 10% of young alumni (undergraduates between 2004 and 2014) make a gift will earn the bragging rights for the 2014 I-35 Battle Royale.
The winner will be announced prior to the Baylor vs. TCU game at the new McLane Stadium. Defend our home turf and help beat TCU. Every gift, regardless of size, and to any area of Baylor counts.
