AFSA Research

AFSA research projects at Baylor provide students with opportunities to participate directly in anthropological research, ranging from modern cultural studies to excavation of prehistoric primate fossils. Students are strongly encouraged to get involved in ongoing research.

Our AFSA research projects include:

  • Caciques for a neoliberal age: Mayan entrepreneurs and the urban informal sector in Guatemala City
  • Dancing for the Stars: Traditional Mayan Dancers in late Capitalist Guatemala
  • Discarded People and Discarded Things: Rewriting Waco's History
  • Final Crossing: Life, Death and Forensic Science along the U.S./ Mexico Border

ENGAGING, GLOBALLY AWARE, INTELLECTUALLY CHALLENGING

An education in Anthropology, Forensic Science, and Archaeology offers our students an exploration of human existence in time and space. Our disciplines ask basic questions of human existence: Where and when did we originate? How has our species changed over time? What are we now? And where are we going?
