Chiefs Provide Cadets with Wisdom, Advice
Feb. 15, 2007By Cadet Captain Denton Elder, 810th Cadet Wing
WACO, TX-- Two experienced Chief Master Sergeants spoke to cadets at Detachment 810, Baylor University. CMSgt Stephen Page, Command CMSgt of the 12th Flying Training Wing at Randolph AFB and CMSgt Hector Baez, Superintendent, Contact Center, AF Personnel Center, Randolph AFB, spoke with cadets about leadership, military integrity and the responsibilities of officership. After asking cadets to read the top line of their military ID cards, which state "ARMED FORCES OF THE UNITED STATES," CMSgt Page reminded cadets that the United States is a nation at war. In his words, "If you cannot arm up, turn in your ID card." CMSgt Baez noted that officers have enlisted personnel to advise them, but ultimately, officers must command. The chiefs provided cadets with a realistic look into active duty life, provided insight from over fifty years combined active duty service and answered cadets' various questions.
