Welcome to the Office of Foundation and Corporate Development

We hope you will find our website useful in answering questions you may have about external funding. Grantseeking is more than a process-it is a partnership. Foundation and Corporate Development within University Development at Baylor University works with all schools and departments to establish and build mutually beneficial relationships with foundations through projects that fall within university priorities. Funding sources may be in the following categories:

Private or independent foundations
Family foundations
Community foundations
Company-sponsored foundations
Corporate charitable giving

Our staff looks forward to assisting you as you seek external funding from nongovernmental sector of society. Acting as the clearinghouse for foundation and corporate information, we strive to help you locate the best potential funding match for each proposed project and to develop a strategy for developing or maintaining a positive relationship between Baylor and the grantmaker. Personal and institutional networking is essential when obtaining funds from the private sector. Academic and Foundation Development is expert in such networking, and often entrTe to present requests for funding is arranged with the assistance of our office, alumni, and friends of the university.

In addition to the identification of possible funding sources, other pre-award services to faculty and staff include consultation on project development, grantwriting tips, editorial review, as well as coordination with university officials. We will copy and mail the proposal, normally accompanied by a letter of introduction/support from the President and foundation-requested attachments.

Foundation and Corporate Development (AFCD) works closely with the university's Office of Sponsored Programs in processing project proposals.

Once a grant is awarded, our office coordinates good stewardship by working with the Grant Accounting Office in providing annual reports for external awards.
