Parents of Interested Students
Whether you've been through the college admissions process with an older child or this is your first time to venture into the world of college tours, applications, and scholarships, we look forward to working with you and your student as your student makes the decision about whether or not to apply to Baylor. We understand that this is an exciting time, but can also be a stressful time for prospective students and their families so we've compiled a brief list of things that can help your student along as they're deciding where to submit admissions applications.
1. Get to know Baylor
We think Baylor is a pretty special place and we think you'll agree. At Baylor our mission is to educate men and women for worldwide leadership and service by integrating academic excellence and Christian commitment within a caring community. We offer more than 140 undergraduate majors in a wide variety of disciplines. There are two ways that we'd recommend you get to know more about us:
- Use our website to learn more about:
- Come Visit Campus
Part of getting to know Baylor is making a trip to Waco. As your student is trying to decide whether or not they are interested in applying to Baylor, it's never too early to visit campus. Come check out our beautiful campus, meet current students, visit with faculty in the areas of your student's academic interest, and get to know this place we love. For a list of upcoming campus visit opportunities visit baylor.edu/visit.
2. Be aware of application deadlines and options
As your student is narrowing down the list of schools they want to apply to, it's helpful to be aware of the various admissions deadlines so that one doesn't accidentally pass them by. Our two admissions deadlines are November 1 and February 1. Within our November 1 deadline we have two application options - Early Action and Single Choice Early Action. For an in-depth look at our deadlines and the different application options your student has, check out our explanation of the different options
3. Encourage your student to create a goBAYLOR account
GoBAYLOR is our free online application portal that will guide your student through the admissions and financial aid processes and eventually through the housing and orientation processes as well. Your student will need to create this account in order to access the online application at baylor.edu/goBAYLOR
. This account will also enable them to check their up-to-date admissions status after they've applied.
