Rhetoric and Public Discourse

The Rhetoric and Public Discourse minor requires students to complete 18 hours of study. This includes 15 hours of upper-level courses. This minor is offered by the Communications department and helps prepare students for professional careers in corporate communication, law, teaching or the ministry.

Most degree programs at Baylor do not require a student to select a minor area of study. Students may choose to minor in a field that complements their major.  Or, they may choose to pursue an areas of academic interest completely outside their major. For example, a Political Science major with an interest in law may minor in Rhetoric and Public Discourse to help them have a foundation in speech.

Courses students may take include Advanced Public Speaking, Politics and Communication, or American Rhetoric.
