Baylor's Greek program is housed in the Classics Department. Students with a Greek major study texts taught in their original language, grammar and Greek culture. Coursework also includes the study of philosophy, religion, history, archaeology and art associated with the Greek language. Available courses include:

  • Greek Historians
  • Greek Tragedy
  • Greek Civilizations
  • Classical Mythology
  • Seminar in New Testament Greek

A Greek major is ideal for students wishing to pursue further studies in law or seminary. In addition, many of our graduates pursue teaching careers or graduate studies.

The Classics Department offers several special programs for students. As part of the Green Scholars Initiative, the department offers undergraduate researchers the rare opportunity to work first hand with ancient Greek and Latin papyri and medieval manuscripts.
