Interior Design

Baylor University's Interior Design program is aimed to academically prepare students to serve the design profession in residential and commercial markets. Students are taught technical skills and creative thinking as they build a portfolio. The program is also accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA). Courses available include:

  • History of Interiors
  • Lighting for Interiors
  • Materials and Finishes for Interiors
  • Business Practices and Procedures for Interiors
  • Interior Design Graphics

Interior Design students are required to complete an internship for course credit, either in residential, commercial or a specialized area. Baylor students have completed interior design internships throughout Texas and across the country and as far away as London.

The Interior Design program also offers Summer Study Tours. Past destinations include Great Britain, France, Belgium, and Italy. These trips are offered at the beginning of the summer and are an exciting way to earn credit hours. Students experience art, culture and cuisine.

Graduates from the Interior Design program have gained employment through residential and commercial design firms and architectural firms while others establish their own name through freelance design.

Interior Design students have the opportunity to live at the Fine Arts Living-Learning Center in North Village, along with other Fine Arts students. Living-Learning Centers are residence halls where students of common academic and extracurricular activities live together.
