Communication Studies

The Communication Studies major is a broad study of the process of human communication. Students will learn the importance of communication context in culture, professional fields, and social movements. Coursework also includes study of the influence of communication on behavior and in turn, its influence on society. Many graduates with a Communication Studies major enter careers in professional communication and teaching, while others continue to graduate school. Courses available include:

  • Conflict and Communication
  • Organizational Conflict
  • Small Group Communication
  • Group Performance

The Communication Department also offers a minor in Corporate Communication. This minor combines courses in the Speech Division and the Film and Digital Media Division of the Communication Studies Department to prepare students for a broad range of communication-related positions in corporate, government, educational, and medical organizations.

The Journalism department also offers study abroad programs for its students including Baylor in London and Baylor in New York.
