Predentistry

Predentistry is a program at Baylor, not a specific major. The program combines the student's major with courses that will best prepare them for professional dental school. Students may select almost any major, but they must complete several required biology, chemistry and physics courses in the process. The broad-based, liberal arts education has proved an excellent foundation on which to build highly specialized professional training such as dental school. Dental schools accept students with majors in both non-science and science disciplines.

In order to prepare students for the rigorous dental school application process, Baylor has a Premed/Predent Advisory Committee. The committee interviews and evaluates applicants for professional school based on a number of factors, including teacher evaluation and personal presentation. The committee works closely with a number of medical and dental schools and their comprehensive evaluations are often an important component of the students' application. This evaluation process keeps the students on track and prepared for the dental school application process. Acceptance into dental school is based on undergraduate GPA, the Advisory Committee evaluation and Dental Admission Test (DAT) scores.

The Student Dental Association is a student-led program designed to educate members on topics important to their career development, to provide community service to Waco, fundraising events and establish a relationship with the American Dental Association.

Alpha Epsilon Delta is a student-led organization for students interested in Pre-Health Care programs. AED offers opportunities for intellectual and professional development, provides a forum for students with common interests, and extends a program of service to benefit both the Waco and the Baylor communities.

Baylor University offers several Living-Learning Centers, which are housing opportunities designed to place students of common interests together in living and learning environments. Baylor offers a Science and Health Living-Learning Center where students with common interest in pursuing a career in medicine and the sciences will be able to collaborate with each other as well as science faculty and medical researchers.
