Impacting the World

world_imapct

In 1987, Baylor created the nation's first college chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Since then, members have built over 100 homes for deserving families. And when they're not building houses, Baylor students and faculty are fixing them up, as well as the neighborhoods that surround them, through a program called Steppin' Out.

Every year, Baylor students go beyond the classroom by giving more than 200,000 hours of service. Here in Waco and throughout the world. Because at Baylor, our mission is really very simple: we change you, you change the world.

Steppin' Out

Twice a year, Baylor students and faculty leave campus to work as painters, carpenters or groundskeepers for total strangers in a program called Steppin' Out. Steppin' Out provides service to the greater-Waco community by coordinating massive volunteer service days. While Baylor students, staff, and faculty make up the bulk of our service volunteers, we've recently expanded to also include Waco community members and groups.

Baylor Habitat

Baylor Habitat for Humanity is recognized by Habitat for Humanity International as the first campus chapter of Habitat, founded in 1987. Since then, over 800 chapters in 35 countries have been created to serve both their local communities and communities abroad. Here in Waco, we have helped Waco Habitat for Humanity, our city affiliate, build more than 100 houses since our inception.
