Any of the following courses offered by the Institute may be taken as electives or as part of the requirements for the Bachelor of Arts degree in art history.
Art 3356 Nineteenth Century European Art-AAI
Art of nineteenth century Europe with emphasis on developments in France, Germany, and England from Romanticism through Post-Impressionism.
Art 3358 History of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism-AAI
Evolution of European Impressionism and Post-Impressionist reactions.
Art 4355 Special Topics in Early Modern Art-AAI
A research seminar on a selected major artist or topic of early modern European art. Topic announced for semester. Subject varies from year to year. May be repeated once with a change in content.
Art 4357 American Art-AAI
Artistic expression in the United States from the Colonial Period to present.
Art 4358 Contemporary Art-AAI
American and European painting and sculpture from 1945 to the present.
Art 4362 Modern European Art-AAI
Modert Art in Europe from Post-Impressionism to 1945.
Art 4100 Field Studies in Art History-AAI
Students with established success in art history research and report on special areas or topics in art history relevant to group destination. Requires concurrent enrollment in one of the courses listed and group travel to designated destinations. May repeat for a maximum of four hours with a change in content.
