Prepare Now for Your Future

In the words of Pro Futuris, we want your education to be transformational. We challenge you to connect what you learn in the classroom to the world beyond the classroom. Don't sell yourself short by thinking that your academic life is separate from what you do outside of class. Like a double-helix, the more intentional the choices you make outside the classroom, the deeper your learning will be and the better prepared you will be for employment, graduate school, or professional school. Remember: you are preparing today for the profile you will present to your future graduate program or employer.

That is why events like the Deans' Garden Reception and Celebration of First Year Excellence aim to set a path before students of excellence that go beyond honor and recognition. We challenge you to consider the possibilities that combining interests from different disciplines can afford; we challenge you to consider that the choices you are making today are creating a dynamic, unique path. How will you serve the world by applying your knowledge and skills?

The following are all experiential learning opportunities that promote meaningful reflection and action, connecting your academic path to the world beyond the classroom. The more thinking you do about the experiences that you have beyond the classroom and how those connect with your academic path, the more prepared you will be to resolve challenging problems in our state, nation, and world.
