Susan Johnsen, Ph.D., Director of Gifted Programs in Baylor's School of Education and Professor in its Educational Psychology Department, has received special recognition from the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented. Dr. Johnsen has been named as the TAGT 2013 State Advocate for the Gifted and will be honored at the TAGT Awards Night Ceremony which will take place during the TAGT 2013 Annual Conference December 4-6 in Houston.
Trena Wilkerson,Ph.D, Professor and Graduate Program Director in the School of Education's Curriculum and Instruction Department was recently elected to the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Board of Directors. Dr. Wilkerson will serve a three-year term that begins in April of 2014. School of Education Dean Jon Engelhardt congratulated her and said, "Trena's election is a result of active and recognized professional efforts, leadership and visibility in the field of mathematics over many years and brings considerable recognition not only for her but for Baylor and our mathematics education program."
Waco Tribune Herald Local college leaders advocated for various changes to the Post 9/11 GI Bill, which grants veterans benefits to enroll in college. School of Education Senior Lecturer Dr. Janet Bagby, coordinator of the Veteran Educational and Transition Services Program at Baylor testified before Congressional Representative Bill Flores at the veterans affairs subcommittee hearing on Wednesday.
