Research at Baylor has long been an important part of the academic life of the University. The faculty's standing commitment to excellent teaching, scholarship and research continues to produce outstanding graduates at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Baylor 2012, a 10-year vision for the University which articulates Baylor's aspiration to develop into one of America's leading Christian research universities, promises to dramatically strengthen the current research environment over the next ten years.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Research aids faculty members from all academic units in identifying, obtaining and managing the funding needed to support their research and scholarship. Internal "seed" funding, matching grant proposal funding, searchable on-line funding databases, grant writing seminars, proposal support and travel awards to national funding agencies are only a few of the services provided to the faculty by the Office of the Vice Provost for Research.

The Vice Provost for Research also acts as Baylor's representative in pursuing partnerships / collaborative agreements with entities outside the institution. The Office of the Vice Provost for Research can assist Baylor faculty and private industries in negotiating sponsored research, technology transfer and licensing opportunities, and welcomes the opportunity to discuss collaborative research and scholarship pursuits that can advance the academic mission of Baylor University.
