Dr. Eric Wilson
Director of Bands

J. Eric Wilson is Director of Bands at Baylor University where he administrates the band program, conducts the Wind Ensemble, and teaches and oversees the undergraduate and graduate conducting curriculum. Additionally, he has supervised student teachers and served as Chair of the Ensemble Division for four years. Prior to joining the Baylor faculty, he served twelve years on the faculty of Abilene Christian University. Dr. Wilson holds both a Doctor of Musical Arts degree (wind band conducting) and a Master of Music degree (saxophone performance and conducting) from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Abilene Christian University. Dr. Isaiah Odajima
Associate Director of Bands
Assistant Professor of Ensembles

Isaiah Odajima is Assistant Professor of Ensembles and Associate Director of Bands at Baylor University. He is the director of the Golden Wave Marching Band, oversees all Athletic Bands, and conducts the Symphonic Band. Dr. Odajima instructs courses in instrumental conducting, marching band methodology, and serves as an advisor in the Music Education area. Dr. Odajima returned to Baylor in 2009 from Michigan State University, where for four years he served on the faculty as the Assistant Director of Bands and Associate Director of Athletic Bands. From 2001 to 2003, Dr. Odajima was Baylor's Assistant Director of Bands and Associate Director of the Golden Wave Marching Band. Dr. Philip Obado
Assistant Director of Bands
Lecturer in Ensembles

Philip A. Obado is currently Assistant Director of Bands at Baylor University. His responsibilities include serving as Associate Director of the Golden Wave Band, Director of the Courtside Players, conducting the Concert Band, and teaching courses in conducting. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Obado was Associate Director of Bands at Illinois State University where he was the director of the Big Red Marching Machine, conducted the Symphonic Winds and Symphonic Band, and taught courses in conducting and marching band techniques. ~ MORE...


Dr. Russell Gavin

Dr. RUSSELL GAVIN is Assistant Professor of Instrumental Music Education at Baylor University. His duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate music education courses, supervising student teachers, and assisting with the University Bands. Dr. Gavin holds a Ph.D. in Music Education from Florida State University, a Master of Music in Euphonium Performance from the University of Notre Dame, and a Bachelor of Music Education from Auburn University. ~ MORE...
