Associate Professor of Instrumental Music Education

Dr. MICHAEL ALEXANDER, is the Associate Professor of String Music Education at Baylor University. His duties include supervising string student teachers, instruction in classroom string pedagogy, directing the Baylor String Project, and conducting the Baylor Campus Orchestra.

Alexander is in demand as a clinician/conductor and has conducted 25 Region Orchestras in Texas as well as All-State / Honor Orchestras in Florida, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico (twice), North Dakota, Oregon, and South Carolina. Assistant Professor of Instrumental Music Education

Dr. RUSSELL GAVIN is Assistant Professor of Instrumental Music Education at Baylor University. His duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate music education courses, supervising student teachers, and assisting with the University Bands. Dr. Georgia Green

Director, Music Education Division

Professor of Music Education

Dr. GEORGIA GREEN holds a BM degree from Northwestern State University and BS, MME, and Ph.D degrees from Louisiana State University. She is an elementary music specialist with a special interest in children's choral music. Dr. Green has taught previously in public and private elementary schools in Louisiana, and has held the position of Supervisor of Elementary Music Instruction at the Louisiana State University Laboratory School. Dr. Michele Henry

Associate Professor of Choral Music Education

Dr. MICHELE HENRY is Associate Professor of Choral Music Education and director of the Women's Choir. She holds the Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Minnesota. Her doctoral dissertation, "The Development of a Vocal Sight-Reading Inventory," focused on the development of an individualized vocal sight-reading test that can be used by classroom educators as well as researchers. ~ MORE...




Dr. WILLIAM V. MAY

Dean, Baylor School of Music

Dr. William "Will" Vernon May, Jr. has served as Dean of the School of Music at Baylor University since 2000. Prior to his appointment at Baylor he was Interim Dean of the University of North Texas College of Music, Denton. A native of Louisville, Mississippi, Dr. May received his B.M.E. degree from Baylor University, Waco, TX, in 1969 and his M.M.E. degree from North Texas State University in 1975. In 1983, he completed his Ph.D. in Music Education with minors in Choral Music and in Educational Psychology/Statistics at the University of Kansas, Lawrence. ~ MORE...

Paula McKay Hoover

Adjunct Lecturer in Elementary Music

PAULA McKAY HOOVER is a public school elementary music specialist with over twenty years of teaching experience. She has served as a part-time lecturer for the music education division since 1995. Mrs. Hoover holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education and Church Music from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri. Further study includes graduate work in music education at Baylor University and completion of Levels I & II in Orff-Schulwerk. She was honored as the ’Elementary Teacher of the Year’ for Texas Region XII in 1992.
