Financial Aid & Sources of Funding
The Office of Academic Scholarships and Financial Aid provides a comprehensive program that includes a wide variety of merit-based and need-based scholarships, as well as grants, such as the TEG and Pell, loans, and part-time campus employment. These services are designed to help students meet expenses while enrolled at Baylor University.
Students may qualify for federal or university work-study positions of 10-20 hours per week, which may involve assignments anywhere within the Mayborn Museum Complex (the Jeanes Discovery Center and the Governor Bill and Vara Daniel Historic Village, or the Department of Museum Studies). The types of work may include preparation for special events, education programming, care of collections, and publicity. The tasks assigned are typical of tasks found in all museums and help students experience the complexity and variety of museum work in hands-on situations.
Students also may seek part-time employment in local museums. The Department has contacts with the museums and cultural organizations in the Waco and surrounding area which employ departmental students. This network provides both financial support and direct museum work experience in another institution. Students interested in museum employment should contact the Director of Academic Programs and Graduate Studies for suggestions.
