Degree Requirements

Students seeking a degree in Museum Studies are required to take a minimum of 30 semester hours, which include six hours of internship, and are required to choose a second major in an academic field of their interest. Second majors in the social sciences, humanities, communication, or business result in a B.A. degree. Second majors in the natural and physical sciences result in a B.S. degree. A baccalaureate minor in Museum Studies which requires 18 semester hours is also available.

Museum Internship

To receive an undergraduate Museum Studies degree, each student must participate in a major and meaningful hands-on experience through an internship. This experience is intended to pose new challenges and allow the student to apply the knowledge and skills gained through the departmental core courses. Normally, internships are completed at another museum so that the student will gain maximum benefit from diversified professional experiences.
