The Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing Presents: Celebrating a Century of Service Exhibit opening Monday August 17th.

The Baylor School of Nursing was established in October of 1909 in Dallas, Texas by Mildred Bridges, superintendent of nursing, at the Nurses' Training School of the Texas Baptist Memorial Sanitarium.

Museum visitors and a number of students from the second and third grades at Robinson Elementary will have a chance to make contact with astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS) this week at the Mayborn Museum Complex in the SBC Theater.

Baylor University's Mayborn Museum Complex is pleased to announce its 2008 summer traveling exhibit - National Geographic MAPS: Tools for Adventure - a new international traveling exhibit from The Children's Museum of Indianapolis and the National Geographic Society. The exhibit will be on display from June 1 through Sept. 7, 2008, in the Thomas E. and Emilyne Weed Anding Traveling Exhibit Gallery at Mayborn Museum Complex on the Baylor campus.

The Mayborn Museum Complex invites you to come on Saturday, November 10, for a guided tour of two of Waco's earliest cemeteries. Actors will portray some of the most interesting early Waco settlers who were laid to rest in these cemeteries, sharing tidbits about their lives and families near where their bones are buried.

Every Monday morning until December 3rd, between 10:00 and 12:00, parents of pre-school children are invited to come for play dates with favorite friends or special time with Mommy, Daddy or grandparents to enjoy all the excitement the museum has to offer.

Baylor University's Mayborn Museum Complex will present award-winning American Indian performers Lowery Begay and Dallin Maybee as part of the summer programming complementing the "Wrapped in Tradition: The Chihuly Collection of American Indian Trade Blankets" exhibit. Begay and Maybee will perform traditional American Indian dances and engage visitors with their storytelling skills and flute performances July 28-29.

Baylor University's Mayborn Museum Complex will once again incorporate cell phone audio tours into their summer exhibit Wrapped in Tradition: The Chihuly Collection of American Indian Trade Blankets to enhance the overall exhibit experience. The Mayborn was one of the first museums in Texas to use this technology last summer, and the results were so positive, they are bringing it back again.

Longtime Baylor University supporter Anna Elizabeth Sturgis Jeanes died at her home in Waco on June 6. Jeanes was a beloved wife, friend, community leader and member of the Baylor family.

Supporters of the Waco Mammoth Site received some good news from the National Park Service. Following a two-year Waco Mammoth Site Special Resource Study, National Park Service leadership has indicated their support of the study's findings that the site does meet the NPS criteria for significance, suitability and feasibility for inclusion in the park system, according to Michelle D'Arcy, who has headed up the study.
