Science & Engineering Library Resources
The following database resources are available in the Science/Engineering
library:
- Applied Science and Technology Index - provides information in
many different areas including physics.
- McGraw-Hill Science & Technology Reference Set
Electronic version of the McGraw-Hill Concise Encyclopedia of Science
& Technology (2d ed.) and the McGraw-Hill Dictionary of Science &
Technology (1992). Very basic database, contents exactly the same as the
print editions of the resources. The biggest advantage of the electronic
version is the use of hyperlinks to navigate through related materials
without having to flip pages or 'lose the page of origin'.
- CIP (Classroom Instructional Program)
If you've tried all of our other suggestions, and still need more help
or information, we have one last ray of hope. Please ask at the
Science/Engineering Reference Desk on the 2nd floor of the Jones Library
or call x2330 to make an appointment with a librarian for research assistance.
DIALOG's CIP offers more than 400 files and is available to Baylor faculty
and students free of charge when searches are curriculum related.

Discussion Newsgroups & Listservs
- Newsgroups
To access newsgroups for various areas of physics, use the Newswatcher
software. The following are examples of groups which are available:
- sci.physics

Another means for exchanging useful information within the physics discipline
using e-mail. The following are examples of listservs available:
- PHYSICS
E-Mail listserv@vm.marist.edu
with the following in the body of the message: sub PHYSICS your
name
- PHYSIC-L
E-Mail listserv@vm.tau.ac.il
with the following in the body of the message: sub PHYSIC-L your
name
- PHYSICS-L: Physics Faculty Information
