Circulation Services

TexShare Card Program

Distance education library services are provided to Baylor clients for whom geographical distances between Waco and their local addresses may prohibit frequent visits to the main campus where they could make use of our research facilities in person.

A. Eligibilty

•Graduate students who live 30+ miles away from Waco but are enrolled in classes.*
•Undergraduate students participating in one of Baylor's Study Abroad programs.*
•Students engaged in internship programs outside of the Waco area for course credit.*
•Faculty who are on sabbatical leave, away from campus for the summer, or engaged in research projects abroad.

* Please note that we may ask for confirmation of your distance education status from your department.

B. Bear ID

Before you may use any of these tools you need to activate your Bear ID. The Bear ID is a username/password combination that functions as your key to the variety of online resources for Baylor students, faculty, and staff. It authenticates you as an active member of the Baylor community and grants access to tools that are not open to the general public. You will need to have your Bear ID not only to use some of the databases on the Libraries' website, but also to request items through Interlibrary Services or document delivery. If you have not done so already, please complete the form at https://www1.baylor.edu/managebid/ to activate your Bear ID:

Once you have activated your Bear ID you will have full access to the resources and services provided by the Baylor Libraries.

C. Document Delivery and Interlibrary Services

Your work as a graduate student or your participation in a study abroad program often will require in-depth research and independent study outside the classroom. Faculty conducting research away from the main campus will also need access to library materials and tools. Since not everything you will need is available electronically, we have established the following services to help you gain access to the documents you need.

D. TexShare

The TexShare card program is a reciprocal borrowing program designed to facilitate direct borrowing of materials by eligible cardholders of a member institution from any participating library throughout Texas. Libraries that choose to participate agree to honor the Card Program Agreement, which specifies the roles and responsibilities of the home and lending libraries, and library patrons. Registered users must obtain a TexShare Card from their home institution before they are able to check out materials from other participating institutions. To obtain a TexShare Card please use the online form. A TexShare card will be sent to whichever address you provide. Please note that students need to renew their cards every semester.
