The Interfraternity Council has planned two events this month as opportunities for rushees to get to know the national fraternities on campus. A Greek information conference will be held at 7 p.m. today in Bennett Auditorium. The IFC also will be putting on a rush concert beginning at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 18 in the Bill Daniel Student Center Bowl.

'This is going to be a time when any men who are rushing or are thinking about rushing can get an idea of what fraternity life is all about,' Travis Feuerbacher, IFC president, said.

The Greek information conference will feature two guest speakers, Don Riley and Jim Griffith. Riley is a Baylor alumnus who now works in the athletic department. When he attended Baylor, he was a member of Tryon Coterie, which is now Phi Delta Theta. Griffith is an Oklahoma State University graduate who now coaches at Texas A&M University. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi.

During this time, the IFC also will hand out rush manuals, which will give detailed descriptions of each fraternity on campus.

'The meeting is a good thing because it helps guys see that there is more to joining a fraternity than just the social functions,' said Peter Cavazos, a Dallas junior and member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon.

The rush concert will showcase three local bands ä Riverside, the Back Porch Band and Russ Sees the Line. During the concert, all national fraternities will have tables set up for rushees to visit.

'Here, rushing men can meet members of all the national fraternities, pick up the rush manual and put their names on the rush lists for each fraternity so they will be notified of each fraternity's events,' Feuerbacher said.

Feuerbacher stresses that these events are open to anyone, including upperclassmen and women.
