An email was received by many Baylor faculty, staff and students this morning bearing the subject: "Account Restricted." This email is part of a phishing scam designed to steal your Baylor passcode. Do not click the link that appears in the message, and do not submit your BearID or password using the fake Outlook interface that appears if you click the link.
This is an example of a very good phishing attempt because of the compelling nature of the message and the clever mimicking of Baylor's web-based Microsoft Outlook email interface. Please note that while the site looks authentic the URL is clearly not routing to a Baylor server.
To avoid falling victim to phishing attacks of this nature, do not click links in emails that you receive. If you receive emails from Baylor, your bank or other institutions, do not use the links provided in emails you receive. Instead, type the URL directly into your browser.
