Where should I be when I change my password?

For faculty and staff, it is best that your computer be on campus and connected to the network when you change your password. By doing this, you ensure that the new password will be propagated through all of the Baylor systems that use the BearID password for access.

If you are traveling, using an Internet Service Provider other than Baylor and you are unable to log into your e-mail (or some other Baylor system), your password has probably expired. You will have to reset your password. Go to the Password Reset link and enter your BearID and click on the "Forgot your password?" link. This option to allows you to answer your security questions. If you would like to receive a reactivation code via text message to your cell phone (if you have your cell phone set up in the system), go to the SMS Reset portion of the Password and Account Management portal.

If you are traveling, using an Internet Service Provider other than Baylor and you decide to change your password (even though it still works), go to the My Accounts tab on the Password and Account Management portal and enter your BearID and password to update it. This step will change your password for Baylor applications such as e-mail, Canvas, Box, etc.

If you change your password while you are traveling, the next time you use your computer, you will need to use your old password to log into the computer on start-up (after pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del). Your computer password will not change until you connect to the Baylor network. Use your new password to log into e-mail, Canvas, Box, etc. Once you return to campus and connect your computer to the network, all passwords using the BearID will be re-synchronized.
