Graduate Admission Requirements
The Department of History offers graduate work leading to the Master of Arts and the Doctor of Philosophy degrees. For admission to the graduate program, the department requires:
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Score on the Graduate Record Examination predictive of success in the program
- Three letters of recommendation
- Statement of purpose
- Vita (resume)
- Writing sample
- Transcripts from all institutions of higher learning the applicant has attended

The faculty of the department may modify these requirements in exceptional circumstances. The application deadline is December 31 for Ph.D. and M.A. applications.
