The Council considered a recommendation from the Curriculum Committee regarding revisions in the Master of Science in Education with a major in Student Service Administration. One course in their curriculum would been revised, four new three hour courses would be developed, six new one hour seminars would be developed, and seven courses from the current program would be dropped. These revisions are necessary to bring the degree in line with standard offerings in Student Services Programs nationally.

With the changes in the Baylor Student Life area, the Student Service Administration program can tie their curriculum with the experience.
The Council unanimously approved these revisions, which will now be added to the Graduate Catalog.
The Curriculum Committee also recommended the Ph.D. in Applied Sociology be changed to Sociology. While the "Applied" designation was appropriate in the start-up period of the degree, the name "Sociology" will more appropriately reflect the Ph.D. program currently and the direction for the future.
Tillman Rodabough tied this recommendation to the recently completed Needs Assessment and explained that currently enrolled students may choose to graduate with either the Applied Sociology Ph.D. or the Sociology Ph.D.
The Council unanimously approved this change in name. The recommendation will now be forwarded to the Provost.
