Geochemistry

Baylor Geology provides research opportunities in both high-temperature and low-temperature geochemical systems. Whole-rock chemistry can be evaluated using X-ray fluorescence and ICP. Stable isotope geochemistry can be investigated using our new stable isotope mass spectrometer.

Research by Dr. Parker includes volcanism and magmatism in the Rio Grande Rift and volcanism in the Cascades of Oregon and Pantellaria, Italy.

Dr. Steve Dworkin

Professor (Ph.D., University of Texas - Austin)

Research Interests:
• Sedimentary petrology
• Low temperature geochemistry

Research by Dr. Dworkin includes stable carbon isotope compositions of soil and paleosols organic matter, and controls on carbon and oxygen isotopic composition of pedogenic carbonates, emphasizing Triassic and Cretaceous paleosols.
