The Department of Art, the Martin Museum of Art, the School of Music, and the Honors College are delighted to announce an exhibition, a one-day conference, and a concert.
Q U 4 R T E T S
in response to T.S. Eliot, a collaboration in word, image, and music by
Makoto Fujumura, Bruce Herman, and Christopher Theofanidis
The distinguished Japanese-American artist Makoto Fujimura, and Boston-based artist and teacher Bruce Herman, have collaborated to produce a new body of paintings in response to T.S. Eliot's Four Quartets.
ART EXHIBITION:
The paintings will be exhibited in the Martin Museum of Art at Baylor University the following dates:
- • November 29-December 15, 2012
• January 2-17, 2013

- • 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, & Friday
• 10 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. Thursday
• 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday
• 1-4 p.m. Sunday
ONE-DAY CONFERENCE & CONCERT: TUESDAY, JANUARY 15, 2013
- 2 p.m. - Artist Reception & Gallery Talk (Martin Museum of Art, C7 on the campus map)
- 4 p.m. - Faith & the Arts: The artists will participate in a panel discussion of faith and the arts.
(Alexander Reading Room, F4 on the campus map) - 7:30 p.m. - Baylor Music Concert: Concert of a newly commissioned piano quintet (also inspired by Eliot's great poem) by the distinguished composer Christopher Theofanidis. (Jones Hall, C7 on the campus map)
Fujimura and Herman bring a wealth of interdisciplinary and cross-cultural experiences to this opportunity to engage in the rich dialogue between faith and the arts.
