DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY & BIOCHEMISTRY - BAYLOR UNIVERSITY

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Baylor University seeks candidates for a tenure-track appointment in Bioanalytical Chemistry. Our Department comprises 19 research faculty and ca. 50 graduate students involved in synthetic, analytical and biological chemistry research. We hope to double these numbers in a decade as part of Baylor's overall commitment to expand science research and scholarship. At present, the Department occupies ca. 20,000 sq. ft. of modern research space in the new Baylor Sciences Building, a 500,000 sq. ft. mixed use building with classrooms, labs and research space for the Physical and Biomedical Sciences. The building also contains extensive University-run facilities which are provided at little or no-cost to research groups; these include Mass Spectrometry and Molecular Bioscience Centers which may be of interest to bioanalytic candidates. We encourage applications from creative and energetic young investigators with potential for developing a strong and independent research program. The successful candidate will also be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses at the highest level. The position is expected to begin August 1, 2010.

Complete applications will include a current curriculum vitae, a description of research interests, and a statement describing the candidate's interests and goals in seeking this position.

Applicants should have a record of high quality research and demonstrated success in obtaining external funding. The successful applicant will be committed to excellence in both graduate and undergraduate education and be supportive of Baylor's distinctive mission and vision.
