Waco, Texas - A dozen Luminant employees gathered August 14-15 at the Baylor Research and Innovation Collaborative (BRIC) for the first of two scheduled team-building sessions sponsored by the BRIC's workforce development partner, Texas State Technical College Waco.
The Operational Excellence Team Meeting was the first official use of BRIC facilities for workforce training, a key element of the BRIC's mission. Gregg Wolffarth, Operational Excellence Consultant for Luminant, gave the event high marks.
"The BRIC served as a world-class training venue and both Baylor's and TSTC's staffs were stellar hosts," he said. "Their level of commitment -- combined with this superb facility -- ensures a bright future for the BRIC as a research hub and engine of innovation."
Luminant is a Texas-based electric utility. A wholly owned subsidiary of Energy Future Holdings Corporation, Luminant's operations include electricity generation and wholesaling, mining, construction and development.
A second two-day training forum for more than 20 Luminant attendees is set for August 28-29 at the BRIC.
